The wave height numbers come from the micro-seismometer located at Hatfield Marine Science Center. The instrument measures the low frequency (~0.2Hz) ground vibrations of the waves as they come up on the shore. The software that crunches the raw data is tuned to provide the wave measurment in terms Significant Height. What does that mean? It turns out that if the Average Height is 5 feet, then the Significant Height is approximately 8 feet. And the Average Of the Highest 10% of the waves (H10) is approximately 10ft. You may also look at the TEXT FILE of the wave height data. Height measurments in the text file are given in meters.

NOTE: The Julian day will exceed 365/366 for the first 2 weeks of each year in order for the graphs to look good. (Call it the Y*K bug :)
